According to CertiK's report published via ChainCatcher, Web3 security firm CertiK documented 52 confirmed wrench attacks globally in the first half of 2026, with total losses reaching approximately $124 million—up 11.8 times year-over-year. Attacks on asset holders have shifted from exploiting technical vulnerabilities to targeting physical relationships and locations; physical robberies surged from 1 case in H1 2025 to 20 cases, accounting for 41% of all incidents. France emerged as the attack epicenter with 33 cases, representing 63.5% of global wrench attack incidents.
