China Sets 100 GW Target for Offshore Wind Capacity by 2030, Launches '15th Five-Year Plan'

According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Energy Administration (NEA), the countries released its renewable energy development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030) on July 23. The plan targets 100 GW of new offshore wind capacity to be initiated during this period, with cumulative installed capacity reaching over 100 GW by 2030.

The plan prioritizes accelerating near-shore offshore wind construction and expediting the development of existing provincial projects. Additionally, China will advance deep-sea offshore wind farms and establish a project database for coordinated maritime resource use. Grid integration efforts will include undersea transmission corridors and shared landing points for cables.
